Roman Fada replaces late Akua Donkor as GFP Presidential Candidate
Accra, Ghana - Nov 5, 2024 - Roman Fada, also known as Kwabena Agyemang, has been elected as the new presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), following the untimely passing of Akua Donkor.
Donkor, the founder and leader of the GFP, was a prominent voice in Ghanaian politics, advocating for farmers' and women's rights.
The Electoral Commission has given the GFP 10 days to nominate a replacement candidate, and Roman Fada's selection is seen as a natural fit, having served as Donkor's running mate for the 2024 presidential election.
Akua Donkor passed away on October 28, 2024, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, due to respiratory issues. Her death has been met with shock and sadness from the GFP and the wider Ghanaian community.
Roman Fada's New Role
Roman Fada, a renowned radio and TV personality with Accra-based Atinka FM, confirmed his candidacy in an interview on the network on Monday, November 4. He attributed his selection as the party's flagbearer to extensive consultations within the GFP's leadership, ensuring a seamless transition after Donkor's passing.
As the new presidential candidate, Roman Fada will lead the GFP into the December 7 general elections.
