Roads and Highways Ministry Gets GHS 3.2bn Parliamentary Approval for 2025 Projects
Governs Kwame Agbodza is Ghana's Minister for Roads and Highways

Accra, Ghana - 26 March, 2025 - Ghana's Parliament has greenlit a substantial allocation of 3.2 billion Ghana Cedis to the Ministry of Roads and Highways for 2025, paving the way for critical infrastructure development and enhancements.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways is gearing up for a significant expansion in 2025, with plans to recruit 137 new staff members to strengthen the Ghana Highway Authority's capacity.

This strategic move comes on the heels of the creation of new regions and regional offices, aiming to decentralize operations and boost efficiency. By doing so, the Ministry seeks to ensure that 80% of rural communities in Ghana can access a feeder road within a 2km radius, as part of its decentralized system.

Key projects on the Ministry's agenda include dualizing major trunk roads to enhance safety and continuing the construction of four by-passes on the Accra-Kumasi Highway. These by-passes, located at Osino, Anyinam, Enyiresi, and Konongo, are expected to significantly improve traffic flow and reduce congestion.

The Ministry's efforts are part of a broader strategy to upgrade Ghana's road network, aligning with the country's development goals and priorities.
