Regional Leaders Address Climate Security Threats at KAIPTC Workshop

Accra, Ghana - 27 Feb, 2025 - A two-day workshop on climate security has been held in Ghana, bringing together security personnel, policymakers, and community leaders from across West Africa.

The event, hosted by the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), aimed to address the growing concerns about the impact of climate change on regional security.

The workshop, supported by the European Union, explored the connection between climate change and conflict, as well as national and international policy responses. Participants also discussed community engagement and operational risk management, developing practical strategies for resilience, conflict prevention, and adaptation in climate-affected regions.

The KAIPTC has been at the forefront of promoting peace and security in West Africa, and this workshop is a key initiative under the Italian Shipping Academy Foundation (FAIMM) C7 West Africa Project.

The centre has a strong track record of hosting high-level events, including the Kofi Annan Peace and Security Forum, which brings together experts and leaders to discuss critical issues affecting the region.
