President Mahama to Unveil Code of Conduct for Appointees on May 5

Accra, Ghana - 04 May, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama is set to take a significant step towards promoting transparency and accountability in government by unveiling a comprehensive Code of Conduct for all appointees on Monday May 5, 2025.

The move is part of his administration's efforts to fulfill its 120-day Social Contract, a key campaign promise aimed at addressing the pressing needs of Ghanaians.

According to Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Minister for Government Communications, the Code of Conduct will lay down clear ethical guidelines and operational standards for ministers, advisors, and other top officials.
“President Mahama enters an important week in which stock will be taken of the rollout of his 120-day Social Contract.''

“It begins tomorrow with the unveiling of a strict Code of Conduct to regulate the activities of all appointees and ensure transparency and accountability in government,'' wrote on his X account (formerly Twitter) on Sunday May 4.

This development is seen as a crucial step in reinforcing President Mahama's commitment to responsible governance and ensuring that public officials serve the public interest.
The unveiling of the Code of Conduct comes amid growing demands for transparency and accountability in governance in Ghana. Critics have long argued that the lack of clear guidelines and oversight has led to corruption and abuse of power in government.
By introducing a strict Code of Conduct, President Mahama's administration aims to address these concerns and demonstrate its commitment to good governance.
Sources close to the presidency indicate that the Code of Conduct will cover key areas such as conflict of interest, financial disclosure, and professional conduct. The move is expected to boost public confidence in the government and promote a culture of transparency and accountability in public office.

The 120-day Social Contract is a key component of President Mahama's agenda, aimed at delivering tangible benefits to Ghanaians.

The successful rollout of the Code of Conduct will be a significant milestone in this effort, demonstrating the administration's commitment to its campaign promises.
