Ghana to Host Inaugural Shipping and Logistics Summit in July

Accra, Ghana - 04 May, 2025 - Ghana's shipping and logistics sector is set to receive a much-needed boost with the inaugural Ghana-International Shipping and Logistics Summit, scheduled for July 2025 at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The summit, themed "Accelerating Action: Transforming Ghana's Shipping & Logistics Sector for Global Competitiveness," aims to address the industry's deep-rooted challenges and unlock new opportunities for growth and sustainability.
The sector has been plagued by inefficiencies, regulatory hurdles, and high costs, hindering its competitiveness globally. Delays at ports cost businesses around $200 million annually in demurrage and storage fees, while cargo clearance times lag behind global benchmarks.
Moreover, Ghana's ports are among the most expensive in West Africa, with logistics inefficiencies and taxes inflating operational costs.
The summit, organised by Akwaaba Communications will bring together over 1,000 industry leaders, government officials, and stakeholders to discuss pragmatic solutions and outline steps towards a more efficient sector. With keynote speeches, panel discussions, and exhibitions, the event promises to foster collaborations and drive tangible reforms.
Industry experts say the summit is timely, given the sector's pivotal role in driving trade, job creation, and economic development.
