President Mahama Launches One Million Coders Program

Accra, Ghana - 16 April, 2025 - Ghana's President, John Dramani Mahama, has launched the One Million Coders program, a flagship initiative aimed at equipping one million Ghanaians with digital skills to drive the country's digital transformation and economic growth.
This program, under the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, seeks to empower young people with cutting-edge digital skills, promoting digital innovation and skills development.
Speaking at the launch ceremony on Wednesday April, 2025, President Mahama emphasized that the program is a strategic pillar in his efforts to reset Ghana's agenda with digital skills, investing in the future of Ghanaian youth through technology and innovation.
The President highlighted the program's potential to transform lives and drive economic growth, underscoring the importance of digital literacy in today's economy.
Minister for Communication, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George on his part noted that the program will create opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, promoting digital inclusion and reducing inequality.
“We are at a defining moment in Ghana’s digital journey. A moment that is not only necessary but urgent. This is all to action to transform our economy, create sustainable jobs, and invest boldly in our people.
“We must harness Science, Innovation and Technology, not as nice words but as tools for inclusive growth, and the one million coders programme is designed to do just that,” he stated.
The launch of the One Million Coders program within the 120-day social contract period demonstrates President Mahama's commitment to delivering on his promises.
