President Mahama Appoints Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu as Acting Government Statistician

Accra, Ghana - 05 April, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama has named Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu as the Acting Government Statistician, subject to Council of State approval.

Dr. Iddrisu, a seasoned economist, currently heads the Economic Strategy and Research Division at the Ministry of Finance.

With over a decade of experience in key government roles, Dr. Iddrisu brings a wealth of expertise to his new position. His background includes.
- Director of Economic Research and Forecasting Division (2013-2019): Oversaw macroeconomic modeling and long-term economic projections.
- Acting Director of Real Sector Division (2010-2013): Led research on sectoral growth and productivity trends.

Dr. Iddrisu's academic credentials include:
- PhD in International Development Studies: National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies, Tokyo, Japan
- Master of Public Administration: London School of Economics
- MPhil in Economics and BA in Economics with French: University of Ghana

He has also consulted for international organizations like Oxfam GB and the World Bank, and serves as a part-time lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra.
