15 Injured, 3 in critical condition in sprinter accident on Nsawam-Suhum road

Kyerewere, Ghana - Nov 7, 2024 - A devastating accident occurred on the Nsawam-Suhum road on when a sprinter vehicle traveling from Kumasi to Accra crashed, leaving 15 passengers injured.

Tyre Burst, Overspeeding Cited as Causes

Eyewitnesses report that the accident was caused by a combination of overspeeding and a tyre burst. The driver, attempting to brake upon realizing the tyre had blown, lost control of the vehicle, which veered off the road.

 “I was eating when I heard the loud sound of a tyre burst. When I went to check, I saw it was a sprinter. Due to the overspeeding, the driver lost control while trying to stop the vehicle, and three passengers were thrown from the car.

“I quickly rushed to help one woman whose leg was trapped between the doors. The vehicle was speeding from Kumasi to Accra, and the tyre burst causing it to veer into the bush.”

Multiple Injuries, Possible Fatality

Three passengers were thrown from the vehicle, with one woman's leg becoming trapped between the doors. Three people are in critical condition and have been rushed to the hospital. Unconfirmed reports suggest that the vehicle's mate may have lost their life in the crash.
