Nsawam Adoagyiri Seat Goes to NPP's Annoh-Dompreh after Recount
Ghana's Electoral Commission has confirmed Frank Annoh-Dompreh as the winner of the Nsawam Adoagyiri parliamentary seat, following a recount of votes. Annoh-Dompreh, representing the New Patriotic Party (NPP), secured 29,640 votes, edging out Amenorpe Philbert Fummey of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), who garnered 29,433 votes.
The recount was ordered by the High Court on December 20, in response to a petition filed by six NPP parliamentary candidates. They alleged irregularities in the initial collation process and sought a re-collation of results for several constituencies, including Nsawam Adoagyiri and Ablekuma North.
Tensions have been running high in Ghana's parliamentary elections, with disputes over results and allegations of irregularities. The Electoral Commission's decision to nullify initial results has added to the tensions, with the NDC contesting the re-collation process.
