NPP's Achievements Under Kufuor, My Administration Will Secure 2028 Win - Akufo Addo
Ashanti Region ,September 19,2025 - Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is confident that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will bounce back and reclaim power in the 2028 general elections. Speaking at the commissioning of a new NPP constituency office in Bantama, Kumasi, Akufo-Addo emphasized that the party's track record under his administration and that of former President John Agyekum Kufuor provides a solid foundation for a political comeback.
Akufo-Addo urged the NPP to campaign on its record in government, highlighting the achievements under his leadership and Kufuor's presidency. "The work the NPP did during my time and during former President Kufuor's time is enormous, and it is that legacy we will build on to win back power in 2028," he stated. He criticized the current administration, led by President John Dramani Mahama, calling its performance "abysmal" and stating that "things are not going well".
The former president emphasized the need for unity within the party, urging members to remain focused and committed to the goal of returning to government. "When we unite and do things right, I know that, with God's help, we will reclaim power in 2028," Akufo-Addo added.
The newly commissioned office, located at Bantama Ahenbronum in Kumasi, includes facilities named after past party leaders, such as former MP Cecilia Dapaah and the late Daniel Okyem Aboagye. MP Francis Asenso-Boakye described Bantama as "pivotal in Ghana's elections" and noted that it is the only constituency in Ghana where the NPP has consistently won every polling station.
Party stalwarts expressed gratitude to members and supporters for turning out in large numbers to support Asenso-Boakye, describing their presence as a sign of loyalty and commitment to the NPP. Former President John Agyekum Kufuor also advised NPP aspirants to avoid divisive rhetoric and ensure a clean campaign as the party prepares for its internal elections.
