Nine Arraigned for Brutal Darkuman Machete Attack, Four Still at Large

Accra ,Ghana ,September 20,2025 - Nine suspects have been arraigned before the Adabraka District Court in connection with a violent machete and axe attack on Mutala Yayaa at Darkuman on September 10, 2025. The suspects, who pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and causing harm, have been remanded into police custody and are scheduled to reappear in court on September 29, 2025.

The accused persons are Bernard Tagoe aka Asa Sese, Nii Eric Martey, Michael Lokko, Felix Adu Mensah, Habib Gusamu, Solomon Assan, Kwame Khalid, Jacob Addy, and Gideon Arthur.

According to police reports, the suspects allegedly assaulted Yayaa with cutlasses, axes, and scissors, leaving him with deep wounds on his head and body. The violent attack was captured on video and circulated on social media, prompting widespread condemnation and calls for swift police action.

Four other suspects, identified as Yaala, Show, Joseph Gattor, Savess, and John Km, remain at large, with authorities actively pursuing them to assist in the ongoing investigation. The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against resorting to violence in settling disputes, urging community members to use lawful channels to resolve grievances instead of taking the law into their own hands.

Superintendent Juliana Obeng, Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, confirmed that all accused persons pleaded not guilty to charges of conspiracy to commit a crime and causing harm during their court appearance. The police assured the public that efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects continue, emphasizing their commitment to ensuring all individuals connected to the attack face justice through proper legal channels.
