NPP Suspends 58 Members in Tatale Sanguli Over Alleged Anti-Party Behaviour

Tatale, Northen Region - 21 Jan, 2025 - Ghana's opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has suspended 58 members from its Tatale Sanguli constituency in the Northern Region, citing allegations of anti-party behavior during the recent elections.

The constituency chairman, in a letter to national and regional executives, accused the suspended members of working against the party's official candidate, a move deemed contrary to the NPP's constitution

However, one of the suspended members, Napare Prosper, a former constituency communication officer, has denied the allegations, demanding a fair hearing and giving the chairman 24 hours to provide evidence.

Prosper maintains he did not campaign against the party's confirmed candidate and insists he did not breach any party rules, calling for a fair hearing into the matter.

“I have seen the letter on social media saying that I have been suspended for not supporting the MP but I want to state on record that I did not campaign against the duly confirmed candidate,'' he stated in an interview with Citi News.

“I did not in any way campaign against the candidate and I did not breach any of the party’s constitution so they should give us a fair hearing,''he added.

The suspensions come amid tensions within the NPP, which has been dealing with internal conflicts and power struggles in various constituencies across the country.
