Accra, Ghana - 12 March, 2025 - Ghana's tourism industry is set for a major boost as the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) launches a range of innovative initiatives aimed at capitalizing on the government's 24-hour Economy concept, in a bid to transform the country into a vibrant and attractive destination for visitors.

Professor Kobby Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of GTDC, revealed in an interview on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z show, that his team has created around 12 new tourism products, including Night Tours, which will enable Ghanaians to explore the country's attractions beyond regular working hours.

This move, according to him is expected to inject new life into Accra's evening economy, encouraging people to spend more time in the city after work.

"I have focused my attention on building products and services and also costing them, that is, making projections for the next five years - and that is what my team has been doing. So far, we have created almost about twelve products,'' he stated.

''We are going to do night tours (Accra by Night), we are going to do what I call Science Park tour, we are going to do the Ghana Tourist Market Place. So you have to create products in order that you can realise resources so you can invest in the project.''

"I don't see why we can not have night tours. The days are so choked in Accra. And I still do not understand why people close from work and they are rushing home around 4 or 5 o'clock,'' he noted.

He also revealed that other initiatives in the pipeline include the Science Park tour, the Ghana Tourist Market Place, and the Tourist Incentive Voucher (TIV) scheme. The TIV program will reward employees who excel in their workplaces with vouchers that can be redeemed at various tourist attractions.
