New MMDCEs will be announced on Jan 31 - Nukpenu
Accra, Ghana - 27 Jan, 2025 - President John Dramani Mahama is expected to announce its new Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) by the end of this week, according to Anthony Nukpenu, the Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
According to Nukpenu,the Greater Accra Region is in the final stages of its vetting process, with the list of recommended candidates expected to be submitted imminently. Other regions have already completed their vetting processes, with some finishing as early as last week.
In an interview on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, January 27, Mr. Nukpenu expressed optimism that the announcement would be made on schedule, provided all stakeholders work efficiently.
He also revealed that President Mahama is set to make the announcement on Friday, January 31.
“Some regions completed the vetting process last week,” Mr. Nukpenu said. “We are finalising ours today, and by this evening or early tomorrow morning, we should be forwarding our list to the appropriate office.
“We hope the Local Government Minister and the team set up by the president to finalise it will expedite their review and make the right recommendations to the president for his announcement.”
“And so in my estimation, by Friday, we should be announcing MMDCEs across the country if everyone will work assiduously,” Mr. Nukpenu added.
