Nation to Pay Tribute to Daddy Lumba with Candlelight Vigil

Accra, Ghana – 29 July, 2025 – Ghana will come together to celebrate the life and legacy of highlife legend Daddy Lumba at a national candlelight vigil scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the Independence Square in Accra. The event, organized by the Creative Arts Agency, will start at 6 p.m.

The Fosu family has also opened a Book of Condolence at their residence, located at Kinshasha Crescent, house number 12 (GA-332-9264), in Accra. The book will be available for signing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, starting Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

The family expressed gratitude to fans, friends, and well-wishers for their outpouring of love, prayers, and support following Daddy Lumba's passing on July 26, 2025, after a brief illness. "In this time of deep grief, your kindness and solidarity have brought us great comfort," the family stated.

While details of the final funeral arrangements are yet to be announced, the family requests respect for their privacy as they mourn their beloved icon. They invite the public to join them in celebrating Daddy Lumba's extraordinary life and enduring legacy.

The nation has been paying tribute to Daddy Lumba, with notable figures such as former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Chairman Wontumi, and Patrick Boamah expressing their condolences. The NDC has also mourned the legendary musician, describing him as a "giant of Ghanaian music".
