Nana B Demands Retraction from Fourth Estate Over 'NSS Scandal Story'

Accra, Ghana - 24 Feb, 2025 - The National Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye, popularly known as Nana B, is demanding a retraction from TV3 over an investigative story titled "NSS Scandal, the Inside Story" aired in February 2025.
According to a statement from Nana B's lawyers, the story has been republished and discussed on several other media platforms, causing harm to their client's reputation.
The story allegedly exposed a scandal within the National Service Scheme (NSS), revealing widespread corruption and ghost names on the scheme's payroll. The investigation claimed that over 200,000 ghost names were included on the payroll, resulting in financial losses of approximately GHS 68.64 billion (around $4.5 billion) between 2020 and 2024.
Nana B had previously dismissed the report as "shoddy work" and "lazy journalism," accusing The Fourth Estate of failing to conduct proper verification before publishing its findings.
His lawyers are giving TV3 seven days to retract the story, which they claim is defamatory. However, it's worth noting that The Fourth Estate, the investigative journalism project behind the story, has already faced a court battle with the National Service Authority (NSA) over the publication. The court ultimately struck out the NSA's injunction application and fined them GHS 6,000.
The NSA scandal report has been a subject of controversy, with Nana B and other NPP officials denying any wrongdoing.
