Minority Caucus Demands Urgent Government Action on Rising Insecurity
Minority Chief Whip ,Frank Annoh-Dompreh

Accra, Ghana – 28 July, 2025 – The Minority Caucus in Parliament has called for an immediate appearance by the Minister for the Interior, Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak, to address the escalating security situation in the country. The demand follows a series of violent incidents, including the fatal shooting of two students at Nalerigu Senior High School and another student at Bawku SHS.

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh described the recent developments as "deeply troubling" and warned that public safety is at serious risk. He called for a closed-door engagement with the Minister under Order 60 of Parliament's Standing Orders to discuss measures being taken to address the situation.

The Minority insists that the government must act decisively to halt the growing insecurity and restore confidence in law enforcement. The government has yet to confirm any connection between the recent attacks and the protracted Bawku conflict, but the incidents have raised concerns about the effectiveness of security agencies in the region.

The Minority's demand for an urgent update from the Minister highlights the need for parliamentary oversight and accountability in addressing national security issues. The closed-door session would allow for a detailed discussion of the government's response to the crisis and potential solutions to restore peace and security in the affected areas.
