Ghana's Defence Minister Vows to Protect Country's Borders Amidst Security Concerns

Accra, Ghana - 19 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, has underscored the importance of clearly defined national boundaries for the country's defence and socio-economic development.

In a meeting with the Defence and Civilian Staff of the Ghana Boundary Commission, led by Major General Kotia, discussions centered on Ghana's land and maritime boundaries, outstanding issues, and the potential consequences of inaction on security, including violent extremism and terrorism.

The commission also explored the implications of national boundaries on socio-economic development, particularly in sectors such as oil and gas, fishing, and mining.

Dr. Boamah emphasized the need for well-delineated boundaries, citing the importance of defending Ghana's territorial integrity.
