Media General Lodges Official Complaint Against NPP's Masawudu Over Microphone Incident

Accra, Ghana - 18 April, 2025 - A shocking incident of alleged media intimidation has sparked outrage after Alhaji Osman Masawudu, Third National Vice Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), deliberately pushed down a TV3 microphone during a recent press conference.

The unprovoked act, captured on video and later acknowledged by Masawudu, has prompted Media General, the parent company of TV3 to lodge an official complaint against him.

In a subsequent interview on a Kumasi-based station, ASHH FM, Masawudu escalated the situation by issuing a veiled threat against Media General journalists, warning them of physical harm if they attended future NPP events.

Media General has strongly condemned the incident in a statement issued on Friday April 18, asserting that it poses a significant threat to press freedom and journalist safety.
