Mahama's Transition Team Vows to Reverse Unauthorized Last-Minute Deals
The Transition Team of President-elect John Dramani Mahama has accused the outgoing government of violating agreed protocols. The team has warned public officials against succumbing to pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in last-minute recruitments, payments, transfers, and promotions.
A recent agreement reached by the Joint Transition Team requires such actions to be approved by the team. However, the Mahama Transition Team alleges that the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) government has continued to engage in these activities unilaterally.
In a statement, the Transition Team cautioned that any unauthorized actions would be reversed upon the formal transfer of power. Public officials responsible for these actions would also be held accountable.
The team's spokesperson, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, emphasized that public officials must resist pressure from outgoing political actors, warning that such actions could attract severe consequences under the new government.
“For the avoidance of doubt, all public officials are strongly cautioned to resist pressure from outgoing political actors to engage in these acts as they could attract severe consequences when the new government takes office,'' portions of the statement read.
