Mahama condemns NPP's 'vote-buying' development strategy
Oti Region,Ghana - Nov 5, 2024 - Former President John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of prioritizing development projects in regions that support them electorally, while neglecting others.
Mahama made these remarks during his two-day tour of the Oti Region, which began on Monday, November 4, 2024.
Mahama condemned the regional disparities in resource allocation, pledging to prioritize development in the Oti Region if re-elected. He emphasized that true peace cannot exist without justice, calling for a fair and respectful society.
“NPP failed to build the regional hospitals because Krachi East indigenes didn’t vote for them. NDC will uphold its promise to Krachi East in terms of infrastructure,'' he stated.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Dambai, Nana Mprah Besemuna III, appealed to Mahama to prioritize development projects in the region, specifically a regional hospital.
“We are very grateful for the educational infrastructure you developed, which has helped us all these years. We also know you built smaller hospitals in Krachi but the people are making for a regional hospital. We want you to prioritise the regional hospital when voted into power.”
Mahama's campaign focuses on critical issues affecting the region and the country's growth and development, including creating jobs, supporting women-owned businesses, and launching a national apprentice program.
