Mahama Calls Emergency Meeting to Tackle Looming 'Dumsor' Crisis

Accra, Ghana- 08 Jan, 2025 - President John Mahama is set to convene an emergency meeting today with power sector stakeholders to address the looming power crisis in Ghana according to John Abdulai Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Yapei-Kusawgu and former Deputy Energy Minister.

Jinapor revealed in an interview with Joy FM’s Super Morning Show on Wednesday January 8, that the meeting, scheduled for 10 am on January 8, aims to bring together various power generation companies to discuss ways to stabilize the power supply and prevent "dumsor" (a term used to describe the erratic power supply in Ghana).

He revealed that the President instructed the Chief of Staff to chair the meeting with all stakeholders.

“Today at 10 am, His Excellency the President instructed that the Chief of Staff chairs a meeting with all stakeholders,” he stated.

He emphasized that the meeting is necessary due to the previous government's failure to procure sufficient fuel for power generation.
