Mahama Appoints Brig. Gen. Glover Ashong Annan as New Customs Commissioner

Accra, Ghana - 23 March, 2025 - Brigadier General Glover Ashong Annan, a veteran officer of the Ghana Army, has been named as the new Commissioner of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) by President John Mahama.

The appointment, announced on Sunday, March 23, is seen as a strategic move to strengthen the Customs Division and support the GRA in achieving its revenue targets.

This is part of the government's broader efforts to stabilize the economy.

Brig. Gen. Annan brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having served as the Presidential Security Coordinator. His expertise in security and administration is expected to be invaluable in resetting the Customs Division and enhancing revenue mobilization efforts.

According to a statement signed by Government Communications Minister, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, President John Mahama expresses his gratitude to the outgoing Commissioner, Brigadier General Ziblim Ayorrogo, for his dedicated service to the Customs Division and the nation. 

The new appointment is expected to mark a significant shift in the government's approach to revenue collection and economic stabilization.
