Mahama Appeals for Peace in Bawku as Ghana Marks Eid-ul-Fitr

Accra, Ghana - 31 March, 2025 - Ghana's President John Dramani Mahama has called for peace and unity in the conflict-ridden Bawku region, urging residents to set aside their differences and work towards lasting peace.

Speaking at the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations at Accra's Black Star Square, President Mahama emphasized the importance of unity and reconciliation during the holy month of Ramadan.

“Finally, as we celebrate this Ramadan, I want to urge my brothers and sisters in Bawku to give peace a chance. Ramadan is a period for togetherness.”

The President's appeal comes as the country marks the end of Ramadan, with hundreds of Muslims gathering at the Black Star Square for special congregational prayers.

The Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, organized by the National Chief Imam, brought together people from all walks of life to promote unity and togetherness.

President Mahama also reassured the people of Bawku of his government's commitment to ensuring peace and development in the region.

He called on religious and traditional leaders to mediate and foster dialogue among all parties, stressing the need for collective efforts to restore stability in the area.

“Let us use this sacred occasion to reflect on the values of love, forgiveness, and harmony. Together, we can build a stronger and more united community.''
