Late Akua Donkor's Votes will be excluded from Presidential Election Results - EC
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has provided clarity on how votes cast for the late Ghana Freedom Party (GFP) presidential candidate, Madam Akua Donkor, will be handled in the upcoming 2024 presidential elections.
In a statement, the Commission confirmed that all votes cast in favor of the late candidate will be deemed rejected ballots and will not be counted towards the valid votes in the election.
This decision follows the inclusion of Madam Donkor's name and party logo on the ballot prior to her passing.
The GFP had attempted to replace Madam Donkor with Philip Kubi, but his nomination was rejected by the Electoral Commission due to irregularities in his documentation.
The Commission's decision has been upheld, and Mr. Kubi will not appear on the ballot.
