Kufuor Calls for Unity, Compassion Amid National Grief
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called for unity after helicopter crash

Accra, Ghana – 7 August, 2025 – Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has paid tribute to the eight individuals who lost their lives in a military helicopter crash on Wednesday, including Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed. In an emotive statement, Kufuor expressed his shock and deep sorrow over the tragedy, describing it as a national loss.

The former President extended his condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased, highlighting their dedication to national duty. He called on Ghanaians to unite in grief and urged divine consolation for the entire country, particularly for the bereaved families and President John Mahama.

Kufuor emphasized the importance of honoring the memory of the deceased by striving for compassion, unity, and common purpose in serving Ghana. "May we honour their memory by striving for compassion, unity and common purpose in serving our nation, Ghana," he stated.

The helicopter crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District, claimed the lives of eight individuals, including high-ranking government officials and military personnel. The delegation was reportedly en route to Obuasi as part of an official assignment.
