Kpebu, Domelovo, three others to lead Mahama's Operation Recover All Loot
Ghana's President-elect John Dramani Mahama has unveiled a high-powered team to spearhead the rollout of his flagship anti-corruption initiative, Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL).
This programme, a cornerstone of Mahama's campaign, aims to tackle corruption, recover looted state resources, and enforce strict accountability measures in Ghana's public sector.
At the heart of ORAL is a comprehensive strategy to address systemic corruption and financial impropriety. By focusing on recovering misappropriated funds and resources, the initiative seeks to strengthen governance, restore public trust in state institutions, and provide much-needed fiscal space for national development.
The five-member ORAL team, announced in a circular dated December 18, comprises:
- Hon Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Chairman
- Mr Daniel Domelovo, Former Auditor-General
- COP(Rtd.) Nathaniel Kofi Boakye
- Mr Martin Kpebu, Private Legal Practitioner
- Mr Raymond Archer, Investigative Journalist
Operation Recover All Loot first burst into the public consciousness on September 4, 2024, when supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) took to the streets in front of the Ministry of Finance. The demonstration was a fiery protest against what they dubbed "gross financial mismanagement" by the outgoing administration of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. Civil society groups, students, and private citizens all joined forces to demand accountability and transparency.
