Koforidua Court Dismisses Election Petition Against Annoh-Dompreh, Fines Petitioner GH¢25k

Koforidua, Eastern Region, Ghana - 11 April, 2025 - The High Court in Koforidua has dismissed an election petition filed against Frank Annoh-Dompreh, the Member of Parliament for Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituency, upholding his victory in the 2024 general election.
The petition, brought by Amenorpe Philibert Fummey, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, sought to invalidate Annoh-Dompreh's election.
Background of the Petition
Following a legal application by Gary Nimako Marfo Esq, Director of Legal Affairs of the New Patriotic Party, the court dismissed the petition. His Lordship Krofa Addae, the presiding judge, ruled in favor of the application, stating that the petition lacked merit. The judge further emphasized that the Electoral Commission's declared results accurately represented the people's choice.
Court's Decision and Implications
The court ordered the petitioner to pay GH¢25,000 in costs as part of its judgment.
Meanwhile, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, Minority Chief Whip in Parliament, expressed satisfaction with the court's decision, seeing it as validation of his electoral win and the trust placed in him by Nsawam-Adoagyiri constituents.
