Judicial Service of Ghana Dispels Rumors Surrounding Judge Transfers
A recent transfer of judges in Ghana has sparked intense speculation, with some suggesting it's a deliberate attempt to disrupt high-profile cases. However, the Judicial Service of Ghana (JSG) has moved swiftly to clarify the situation, emphasizing that such transfers are routine administrative actions.
According to the JSG, these transfers are part of an annual process or occur as circumstances require. The service stressed that judges being transferred are required to finalize judgments in completed cases and complete trials near resolution.
In the case of Justice Priscilla Dikro Ofori, who was reassigned from Kumasi to Accra, the JSG noted that she has adhered to standard protocols. Justice Ofori submitted her Case Completion Plan on November 29, 2024, and has been authorized to conclude cases close to completion.
The JSG emphasized in a statement released on Dec 3 that Justice Ofori's transfer is one of many involving over 20 judges across various court levels.
The service urged the public to understand the operational framework governing judicial transfers and called on the media to prioritize factual and balanced reporting.
