Interior Minister Extends Curfew in Bawku Municipality Amid Ongoing Conflict

Bawku, Upper East, Ghana - 04 March, 2025 - Ghana's Interior Minister, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has extended the curfew in Bawku Municipality and surrounding areas, effective March 3, 2025.
The curfew, which has been in place since November 2021 due to chieftaincy conflicts, will remain in effect from 8:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and will be reviewed or renewed after a week.
As part of the extended curfew, residents are prohibited from carrying arms, ammunition, or offensive weapons, with violators facing arrest and prosecution. The government seeks to maintain stability in the region and encourages residents to pursue peaceful conflict resolution.
