Helicopter Crash: NPP Visits NDC HQ to Commiserate Over Tragic Loss

Accra, Ghana – 14 August, 2025 – In a show of goodwill and solidarity, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) paid a courtesy visit to the headquarters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on August 13, 2025, to commiserate with them over the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians, including five NDC stalwarts.

The helicopter crash occurred on August 6, 2025, while the victims were on their way to Obuasi for an official event. The deceased included Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC; Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate; Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, among others.

The NPP's General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, led the delegation to the NDC headquarters, expressing profound grief and sympathy over the tragic loss of life. During the visit, Kodua Frimpong apologized for remarks made by some NPP members regarding the incident, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation in promoting a peaceful and stable political environment.

The NDC received the NPP delegation warmly, with National Chairman Johnson Asiedu Nketia expressing gratitude for the kind words and commiseration visit.
