Greater Accra Water Crisis: GWL Urges Affected Residents to Report Supply Disruptions

Accra, Ghana - 18 April, 2025 - Residents in parts of Ghana's Greater Accra Region are facing significant challenges due to erratic water supply, with many communities relying on costly private water vendors.

The issue has become particularly dire in areas like Nungua, where local businesses are struggling to operate due to the lack of reliable water supply.

Nana Yaw Barima Barnie, Regional Communications Manager for Ghana Water Limited (GWL), has urged affected residents to report their concerns directly to the nearest GWL office for prompt assistance. Speaking on Channel One TV's Breakfast Daily show on April 18,, Barnie emphasized the importance of community engagement in addressing water-related issues.

According to Barnie, GWL is committed to resolving water supply disruptions and has a network of customer service offices across the region. He encouraged residents to utilize these offices to report their concerns, which would be promptly addressed.

“We would want to urge our customers or consumers that if their water is not flowing, they should do well to approach us, come to our office. There is always an office nearby so you can go and make your complaint, and after the complaint, we will also follow up and see how we can help you to get water.

“They understand the importance of water in our daily life. Without water, life is impossible, so we expect that if customers or consumers are not getting water, they will kindly approach us and we will find out how we can assist them to get water,” Barnie said.
