GJA Warns Members against Fake Voters' List Ahead of Elections Today

Accra, Ghana - 30 June, 2025 - The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has issued a warning to its members about a fake voters' list circulating on social media ahead of the Association's National and Regional Elections.

The Elections Committee of the GJA has described the list as a deliberate attempt to mislead members and undermine confidence in the electoral process.

The elections, scheduled for June 30, 2025, will see members of the GJA vote for their national and regional leaders. The Elections Committee has urged members to ignore the fake list and instead rely on the official voters' register, which has been duly signed by the GJA General Secretary and Treasurer.

Members who are unsure of their inclusion on the voters' register have been encouraged to verify their status by visiting the official GJA website or directly contacting the Elections Committee. The Committee has also announced that the Ghana Police Service will be present at all regional voting centres to maintain peace and order during the election.

In a statement issued on Sunday June 29, the Committee cautioned that any individual or group attempting to cause confusion will be promptly escorted out of the premises. To cast a vote, members will be required to present valid identification, including a Ghanaian Passport, Voter's ID, or Ghana Card.

The GJA has emphasized the importance of a peaceful and credible election, urging members to work together to achieve this goal. The Association's leadership elections are expected to be keenly contested, with the outcome likely to shape the future direction of the GJA.

“The Committee urges all members to ignore this mischievous fabrication and rely solely on the official voters’ register, which has been duly signed by both the GJA General Secretary and Treasurer,” portions of the statement read.

“In a related development, the Committee has served notice that the Ghana Police Service will be on standby across all regional voting centres. Any individual or group that attempts to cause confusion will be promptly escorted out of the premises.''

''Let us all work together to ensure a peaceful and credible election. May the best candidates win – and may the GJA be the ultimate winner,''
