Ghana's Inflation Rate Hits 13.7% in June, Lowest Since 2021

Accra, Ghana - 2 July, 2025 - Ghana's year-on-year inflation rate has slowed significantly to 13.7% in June 2025, marking the sixth consecutive monthly decline and the lowest level since December 2021.

According to the Ghana Statistical Service, the decline is attributed to a significant reduction in inflationary pressures, driven largely by easing food prices and a general slowdown in price increases across key consumer categories.

Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu noted that the downward inflationary trend over the last six months provides some consistency and assurance of a real sustained shift in prices.

For the first time in several months, Ghana recorded a month-on-month deflation of 1.2% between May and June 2025, suggesting that consumers paid less for goods and services in June compared to the previous month.

The slowdown in inflation is expected to provide relief to consumers and businesses, potentially boosting economic growth and stability.

Food inflation dropped by 6.5 percentage points to 16.3%, down from 22.8% in May, while non-food inflation eased to 11.4% from 14.4% in the previous month.

However, regional disparities remain stark, with the Upper West Region recording the highest inflation rate at 32.3%, largely driven by rising food and utility costs.

In contrast, the Bono Region posted the lowest regional inflation at just 8.4%. Dr. Iddrisu emphasized the need for more granular data to understand and address these regional imbalances.
