Police Service Undergoes Major Shake-Up as IGP Yohuno Names New Command Heads

Accra, Ghana -19 March, 2025 - Ghana's police force has undergone a major overhaul, with Inspector-General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohuno at the helm, announcing significant command changes. 

The changes come on the back of President John Dramani Mahama's appointment of COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new Inspector-General of Police, replacing George Akufo Dampare. Yohuno brings over three decades of experience to the role, having served in various capacities, including Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Operations 

At the heart of the changes is the reconstitution of the Police Management Board, which now boasts 31 members. Notable appointees include COP Maame Yaa Tiwa Addo-Danquah, who takes the helm as Director-General of Research and Planning, and COP Paul Manly Awini, now at the helm of the Service Workshop in Accra.
