Ghana to launch credit scoring system on Nov 7, says VP Bawumia
Atwima Mponua, Ghana - Nov 5, 2024 - Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the New Patriotic Party's (NPP) flagbearer, has reaffirmed his commitment to revolutionizing Ghana's economy through digitalization and technological advancement.
Addressing a campaign rally in Nyinahin, Atwima Mponua District, Bawumia announced the launch of Ghana's first credit scoring system on November 7, 2024.
This initiative aims to simplify credit access, enhancing living conditions for Ghanaians. Notably, Ghana will become the second African country to implement this system, after South Africa.
Key Initiatives:
- Credit Scoring System: To facilitate easy credit access, backed by existing infrastructure such as the Ghana Card, digital address system, and mobile money interoperability.
- Railway Redevelopment: Full implementation of the railway system to ensure seamless goods transportation from hinterlands to ports.
- Kumasi-Takoradi Railway Line: Development of the railway line to transport bauxite from Nyinahin to ports.
- Driver's License and Passport Reforms: Extension of driver's license validity to 10 years and streamlined passport acquisition with just one Ghana Card.
- Agricultural Development: Prioritizing agricultural mechanization centers to boost production.
- Private Sector Empowerment: Encouraging private sector participation in major development projects.
- Buy Ghana First Policy: Strict implementation to promote made-in-Ghana products in government projects.
Bawumia emphasized the government's accomplishments in various sectors, including education, health, technology, and roads.
He highlighted the success of the free SHS policy, increased school enrollment, and reduced financial burden on parents.
The NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Atwima-Mponua, Seth Osei Akoto also urged constituents to support the NPP's socio-economic policies, citing significant development under their governance.
