Accra, Ghana - 14 June, 2025 - Ghana is set to host its inaugural National Youth Festival in August, coinciding with International Youth Day on August 12. The event, spearheaded by the National Youth Authority (NYA), aims to address pressing issues affecting Ghanaian youth, including mental health, unemployment and substance abuse.

According to Osman Ayariga, CEO of the NYA, the festival will feature conferences, forums and campaigns focused on critical issues impacting young people's progress and productivity nationwide.

“It is not just about training and jobs, but also about the mental and emotional well-being of our youth,” he stated in an interview on Kasapa FM.

Mental health will be a key area of focus, with Ayariga emphasizing its importance as a foundation for youth development. "If the mental health of our youth is not stable, then providing jobs and training alone will not yield the needed results," he stressed.

The festival's agenda includes discussions on youth entrepreneurship, digital literacy, leadership and civic responsibility. A national street campaign against drug abuse, a growing concern among Ghanaian youth, will also be part of the event.
