Ghana ranks seventh as Africa accounts for 73% of World Bank's IDA Funding

A recent analysis of World Bank funding has revealed that African countries have been the largest beneficiaries of the International Development Association's (IDA) support with Ghana ranking seventh. Since its inception in 1960, the IDA has provided over $287 billion in funding to support development in the world's poorest countries.

The data shows that eight of the top 10 recipient countries are from Sub-Saharan Africa, with Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Ghana ranking among the highest. These countries have received significant funding to support development projects, including infrastructure, healthcare, and education initiatives.

The IDA's support has had a profound impact on the continent, with African countries accounting for approximately 73% of total IDA disbursements. The funding has helped to drive economic growth, reduce poverty, and improve living standards across the region.

The analysis also highlights the importance of the IDA's support in reaching remote and underserved areas of the continent. By providing funding for development projects, the IDA has helped to bridge the gap between urban and rural areas, and to promote more inclusive and sustainable development.
