Ghana Hosts Gambian Women-Led Businesses on Week-Long Study Tour

Accra, Ghana - 20 Feb, 2025 - A delegation of 10 women-led businesses from The Gambia has arrived in Ghana for a week-long study tour, exploring the country's thriving handicraft and fashion industries.
The tour, organized under the SheTrades Commonwealth+ Programme, aims to foster business linkages and knowledge-sharing between Gambian and Ghanaian entrepreneurs.
On Monday, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), Francis Kojo Kwarteng Arthur, at the Africa Trade House. Mr. Arthur reaffirmed GEPA's commitment to inclusive trade, ensuring women entrepreneurs benefit from export opportunities.
The tour will feature field visits, business-to-business engagements, and knowledge-sharing sessions. The initiative is a collaborative effort between the International Trade Centre (ITC), GEPA, and The Gambia's Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration & Employment (MOTIE).
This development comes as Ghana continues to promote intra-African trade, particularly under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). The country has already begun trading under the AfCFTA as part of the pilot Guided Trade Initiative.
