Ghana and Spain Pledge Cooperation on Women's Empowerment

Accra, Ghana - 11 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has held talks with the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Angel Lossada Torres-Quevedo, to explore areas of cooperation on gender equality and social protection.
The meeting, which took place at the Ministry on Tuesday, February 11, aimed to strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries and foster partnerships to advance social protection and gender equality.
During the meeting, Ambassador Torres-Quevedo reaffirmed Spain's commitment to supporting Ghana's development priorities, including the empowerment of women and vulnerable groups.
The Gender Minister also outlined her vision for the Ministry, which prioritizes women's economic empowerment, child rights advocacy, and social safety nets for the underprivileged.
She emphasized the Ministry's ongoing efforts to promote gender equality, including initiatives to support women's economic empowerment and social safety nets for the underprivileged.
The meeting also touched on the upcoming International Women's Day, with Minister Lartey encouraging collaboration with the Spanish Embassy on initiatives that promote gender equality and women's empowerment.
The talks concluded with a mutual commitment to further discussions that will contribute to the shared goals of both countries. The meeting was also attended by the Chief Director of the Gender Ministry, Dr. Afisah Zakariah and the Deputy Head of Missions, Embassy of Spain to Ghana and Togo - Isabel Ibarra Serrano de Haro.
