Ghana Airports Company Faces Legal Threat from Evatex Over Contract Cancellation
Managing Director of the GACL, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare

Accra, Ghana – 5 August, 2025 – Evatex Logistics Limited has given the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) an ultimatum to reverse its decision to terminate their revenue assurance contract within seven days, or face legal action. The company claims the termination is unjustified, unreasonable, and executed in bad faith.

GACL terminated the contract on August 1, citing the absence of evidence showing any revenue concealment or recovery since Evatex began operations at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) cargo premises. However, Evatex disputes this, stating that it had already begun work, submitted reports for action, and made significant investments in infrastructure tailored specifically for GACL.

Evatex claims to have invested US$64.6 million in infrastructure for GACL and considers the termination as actuated by bad faith and unreasonableness. The company is seeking an amicable settlement and has given GACL seven days to withdraw the termination letter.

If GACL fails to comply, Evatex will be compelled to institute legal action to recover its capital investments and seek other reliefs. The contract is currently under investigation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor due to its link to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML), a company embroiled in controversy over revenue assurance deals.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor is investigating the contract awarded during the tenure of former GACL Board Chairman, Paul Adom-Otchere, who was detained on July 31, 2025, in connection with the probe. The outcome of the investigation and the dispute between Evatex and GACL remains to be seen.
