Sefwhi Akontombra - Western North Region, Ghana - 17 April, 2025 - Appiah-Kubi Baidoo, a three-time parliamentary candidate for Sefwi Akontombra and former District Chief Executive, has resigned from the New Patriotic Party (NPP) due to years of alleged maltreatment and neglect.

In his resignation letter, Baidoo expressed disappointment that his repeated appeals to the party's national leadership had gone unanswered.

Baidoo, a prominent figure in the NPP, stated that he had endured prolonged mistreatment, although the specific nature of the grievances was not detailed in the letter. He thanked the party for the opportunities he had to serve as District Chief Executive and parliamentary candidate but felt compelled to leave due to the lack of response to his complaints.
