Fire Engulfs Suame Garages

Suame, Kumasi, Ghana - 02 Feb 2025 - A massive fire has swept through a section of Suame Garages in Ghana's Ashanti Region, destroying properties worth millions of cedis and leaving numerous traders and artisans without livelihoods.

The fire incident, which occurred late on Friday, January 31, 2025, is believed to have been sparked by an electrical fault, although the exact cause is still being investigated.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as "apocalyptic," with flames engulfing workshops and spare parts stores, and thick smoke billowing into the air.

"It was like a war zone," said one witness. "People were running everywhere, trying to salvage what they could, but it was too late. The fire was too powerful."

The Ghana National Fire Service responded to the incident, but their efforts were hindered by the narrow streets and crowded conditions in the area.
