Gomoa Central, Ghana - 25 Feb, 2025 - Ghana's Fisheries Minister, Emelia Arthur, has pledged to support the country's largest inland fish farm, R&B Farms, in its efforts to boost local fish production and create jobs.

During a visit to the farm in the Gomoa Central District, Minister Arthur reaffirmed the government's commitment to strengthening its partnership with R&B Farms. The farm, which operates on 32 hectares of land, produces tilapia and catfish for both local and international markets.

The Minister's visit comes just weeks after she assumed office, and is seen as a key step in promoting sustainable aquaculture development in Ghana. The government's Aquaculture for Food and Jobs Programme has already partnered with R&B Farms, and Minister Arthur has pledged to build on this partnership to enhance food security and create employment opportunities.

Minister Arthur also used the opportunity to assure laid-off workers at the farm that the government would support their recall. Her visit was facilitated by Hon. Kwame Asare-Obeng A Plus, who introduced the farm to the Minister during his congratulatory message on the floor of Parliament.

This move is part of the Minister's broader efforts to address the challenges facing Ghana's fisheries sector. In recent weeks, Minister Arthur has pledged to tackle illegal fishing, promote sustainable fishing practices, and support the development of the country's aquaculture industry.
