Electoral Commission to host regular media briefings on election day
As Ghana prepares to go to the polls on December 7, 2024, the Electoral Commission has announced plans to provide regular media briefings to keep the public informed about the progress of the elections.
In a statement released by the EC on Dec 4, the briefings, which will be held at the National Collation Centre, aim to offer timely updates and ensure transparency throughout the electoral process.
According to the EC, media personnel with accreditation cards are invited to cover these briefings, which will also serve as a platform for the Commission to respond to any stories and reports from around the country.
The Electoral Commission has urged the media and the general public to verify any election-related reports with the Commission to avoid the spread of unverified information.
To ensure that the public is well-informed, the Electoral Commission has scheduled the following media briefings on Election Day:
- 9:00 am: First media briefing
- 12:00 noon: Second media briefing
- 3:00 pm: Third media briefing
- 6:00 pm: Fourth media briefing
- 9:00 pm onwards: Additional briefings as results are received from various regions
According to the EC, each session will last no more than 30 minutes. For any clarifications during this period, the public can reach the Commission on its toll-free number: 0800 324 324.
