Election 2024: Kpandai NDC MP Challenges Election Result, Seeks Re-Run
Daniel Nsala Wakpal is MP for Kpandai

Kpandai, Ghana - December 28, 2024 - A legal battle is underway in Ghana's Kpandai constituency, where incumbent Member of Parliament Daniel Nsala Wakpal is challenging the election of Matthew Nyindam as the Member of Parliament-elect. Wakpal, who is also the National Democratic Congress parliamentary candidate for Kpandai, alleges that the December 7 parliamentary election was marred by irregularities and inconsistencies in 41 out of 152 polling stations.

According to Wakpal, the election did not comply with regulations 39 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020, affecting the overall results. He further claims that the declaration and publication of the election results did not adhere to regulations 43, impacting the entire electoral process in the constituency.

Wakpal is seeking a court order to set aside the declaration of the election results in the 41 affected polling stations and to conduct a re-run of the parliamentary elections on a date determined by the court. The outcome of this legal dispute will have significant implications for the political landscape of Ghana's Kpandai constituency.

“The parliamentary election held in the Kpandai constituency on 7th December 2024 was not conducted in compliance with regulations 39 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (CI 127) and the principles laid down by Regulations 39, and that the said non-compliance affected the results of the elections.

“The declaration and publication of the parliamentary election results held in the Kpandai constituency on 7th December 2024 were not made in compliance with Regulations 43 of the Public Elections Regulations, 2020 (C.I 127) and the principles laid down by Regulations 43, and that the said non-compliance affected the entire results of the parliamentary elections in the Kpandai constituency,” he further stated.

“An order directed at the 2nd and 3rd respondents to conduct a re-run of the parliamentary elections in the affected 41 polling stations out of the 152 polling stations in the Kpandai constituency on a date determined by the court.”
