ECG urges customers to stock up on credit ahead of Nuri Meter upgrade
Ghana's Electricity Company of Ghana Limited (ECG) has launched an emergency upgrade of its prepayment meters, affecting thousands of customers nationwide.
The upgrade, which began on Saturday, November 23, aims to enhance the efficiency of the company's metering system and prevent disruptions to vending services.
In a notice released on Saturday, Nov 23, ECG urged customers to stock up on top-up credit to avoid potential disruptions during the upgrade process. The company also advised customers to purchase sufficient credit to last at least one month.
”Please buy enough top-up credit that will last for at least one month in order not to experience vending disruptions that might arise out of the ongoing Nuri meter upgrading exercise,” part of the notice read.
The upgrade is part of a mandatory protocol to ensure that all metering systems comply with international standards. ECG has encouraged customers to contact its call centre or social media platforms for assistance during the upgrade process.
