EC to reprint ballot papers for Volta and Ahafo Regions due to serialization errors
Samuel Tettey is the Deputy Chairperson of Operations at the Electoral Commission of Ghana

Accra, Ghana - Nov 15, 2024 - The Electoral Commission of Ghana has just announced a major development in preparation for the upcoming elections, stating that, due to incorrect serial numbers, all ballot papers distributed to the Volta and Ahafo Regions will be reprinted.

This decision was made during an emergency Inter-Party Advisory Committee meeting held today, November 15.

The issue at hand is related to serialization errors on both presidential and parliamentary ballot papers for these two regions.

According to Samuel Tettey, Deputy Chairperson of Operations at the Electoral Commission, these errors have compromised the integrity of the ballots.

To address the issue, the Commission has taken swift action, deploying teams to the printing house to correct the anomalies. The affected ballot papers will be recalled, and Buck and Acts Commercials will handle the reprinting for both presidential and parliamentary ballots.

“Over the last few weeks, some concerns have been raised with the serialisation of the Ballot Papers for Ahafo and Volta Regions.

“While the printing of the Ballot Papers has gone down very well, the challenge faced by the Commission has been the serialisation of the numbers on the Ballot Papers.

“The Commission has seriously taken action to cure the defects. And has deployed teams to the printing house to correct the anomalies.

“The commission has taken a decision to recall the Ballot Papers for Ahafo and the Volta regions. The Commission has decided that the two ballots will now be printed by Buck and Acts Commercials for presidential and parliamentary,'' he added.
