Courtroom Drama: Mildred Donkor Seeks New Lawyer, Leaves Atta Akyea in the Dark
Accra, Ghana – 18 July, 2025 – The ongoing National Signals Bureau (NSB) scandal has taken an interesting turn as one of the accused persons, Mildred Donkor, has expressed her desire to part ways with her current lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea.
During a court appearance on Friday July 18, 2025, Donkor informed the court that she no longer wishes to be represented by Atta Akyea, who is currently acting as legal counsel for all the accused persons in the case.
The case involves the alleged stealing of GH¢49 million by Kwabena Adu-Boahen, former Director-General of NSB, his wife Mildred Donkor, and Advantage Solutions Limited.
The Attorney General charged them with stealing contrary to Section 124 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
When asked by the presiding judge if she had legal representation, Donkor openly declared that she had no lawyer and expressed her wish to be assigned new counsel.
This declaration was made in the presence of Atta Akyea, who had been representing her and the other accused persons in the case.
The recent development raises questions about the dynamics between Donkor and Atta Akyea, as well as the potential impact on the case. The case is set to continue, and the court's decision on Donkor's request for new counsel will be eagerly anticipated.
The NSB scandal continues to unfold, with many watching closely to see how the case will play out.
