Christian Rogg to Replace Harriet Thompson as UK's High Commissioner to Ghana

Accra, Ghana - 18 April, 2025 - The UK government has appointed Christian Rogg as its new High Commissioner to Ghana, effective July 2025.
Rogg, a seasoned diplomat and development economist, will replace Harriet Thompson, who has served in the role since 2021.
With over 20 years of experience in international development and foreign service, Rogg brings a wealth of knowledge to the role. He has previously worked in Ghana, serving as Head of the Governance and Growth Team at the UK's Department for International Development (DFID) from 2006 to 2009.
Rogg's appointment comes at a time when UK-Ghana relations are strengthening, with growing partnerships in trade, security, education, and climate action. His experience and previous work in Ghana are expected to provide continuity and deepen bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
Rogg currently serves as Director for Development and Open Societies at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO). He has also held senior roles in Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Nigeria, Vietnam, and the UK.
Harriet Thompson has served in the role since 2021
The outgoing High Commissioner, Harriet Thompson, has been credited with strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties between the UK and Ghana during her tenure. Her next diplomatic posting has not been officially disclosed.
